ActiveCool AC4G review

Howdy people, this is my first review for [M]adshrimps, and it´s going to be a damn fine one I´m telling you!

Nowadays most people want a silent heatsink/fan and good temperatures. You can have it quiet, but you will lose the nice temps. You can mix em up, and have a nice combo or you can just turn mad and buy the loudest and fastest fans around. Today no loud crap, we´ll do it the silent and performing way. Is it possible? Well, you´ll find out in a minute. I´m going to guide you trough the ActiveCool AC4G CPU cooler. Expect heatsinks, peltier elements, getto setups and a totaly crazy reviewer.

Do you have any comments on this article, or do you have questions? All goes in here. :)

great work DURON :super:

would this HS fit on a Ti4600 ? ;)

DUR0N 15th December 2002 12:55

don't think so. The coldplate is 4 to 8 mm thin, so you need a giant drill to make holes in it. A drillpress would do the job I think ;D

Gamer 15th December 2002 12:56

nice job.

yzharis 15th December 2002 13:04

Nice job
only one mistake :-)
€ 75 is not the correct price
incl transport it will turn around the € 100

TeuS 15th December 2002 13:07

difference between 1st and 2nd graph?

DUR0N 15th December 2002 13:10

not overclocked - overclocked. read the text and the look at the graph :p

TeuS 15th December 2002 13:14

some ppl just look at the pics, the graphs and the conclusion

the graphs should say it all:p
and all those typo's dude

DUR0N 15th December 2002 13:31

encore?

The Senile Doctor 15th December 2002 13:32

jmke 15th December 2002 14:12

1) I've had
2) I"ve had
3) I´ve had

correct one is #3
use that one when you need to be short
It´s simple :)

BUT that will, eventually be changed in the future
for now use the ´ ´ ´´´ ´´´

The Senile Doctor 16th January 2003 12:44

would there be a big difference towards the thermaltake version?

jmke 16th January 2003 17:24

the better heatsink will have a positive effect on the overall performance, if you add a high performance FAN to cool the heatsink down maybe this baby can be used to really cool down

but the Pelt has a max. wattage so it would be most usefull for budget CPU's :)

DUR0N 24th January 2003 17:18

yadela! got the amd version :)

jmke 24th January 2003 17:26

test it test it test it test on your XP1700+

I feel another review coming up :)

DUR0N 24th January 2003 22:03

updating the old review is a no-go with the new scripting, i guess

not advised no...

get a short & sweet new one out, no techno-bable
just bare numbers & graphs :)

DUR0N 26th January 2003 12:47

ok, 5min ago i tested it...and burned my xp1700+ Tbred.
guess how? (it's not my fault)

thee who answers correctly gets and chip-con hat & bic ;p

jmke 26th January 2003 13:05

The pelt didn't produce enough cooling power, so instead of cooling it flipped <> and started heating the CPU instead of chilling

result: burned CPU

RichBa5tard 26th January 2003 14:44

I guess it's a pre-production example? :s

close, but not quite cigar :)
the "started heating the CPU instead of chilling" part was right, the reason why wasn't

jmke 26th January 2003 20:34

you connect +/- wrong, so the hot side was cold side & cold side was hot side

jmke 26th January 2003 21:52

did the heatsink came with the pelt mounted upsidedown?

DUR0N 26th January 2003 22:26

well duh, i'm not flipping pelts just for fun :p

jmke 26th January 2003 23:00

jmke 27th January 2003 21:15

call around @ the shops
most of them have Tbred A's, some are stocking B's

best bet it to import a JUIHB from the US ;)
