How is such a mysql flood problem caused ?

a badly writing script on one of the hosted websites that gets stuck into a loop and causes the mysql server to be flooded with requests in such a way that in becomes impossible to generate the outputs in a timely fashion, thereby slowing down to a crawl and affecting all the sites that use that mysql server

every site has its username/password to login to the mysql server
you can check what user is using the most resources

that's why we are on a dedicated server now :grin:
