XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: http://www.madshrimps.be/backend.php
Line Number 21, Column 65:

----------------------------------------------------------------^

jmke 26th July 2004 17:02

it's meant to be read with an RSS newsreader not your webbrowser, it works perfect in FeedDemon and other agents :)

the maniak 26th July 2004 17:09

it doesn't work in the newsreader of Opera :(

wutske 26th July 2004 17:54

feeddemon gives error, but it works

//edit: in opera;
XML-parsing mislukt: niet 'well-formed' (Regel: 21, Karakter: 64)

and the '=' is red marked

jmke 26th July 2004 18:28

that '=' is pretty important, without it you cannot define which thread it should link to.

works fine feeddemon without error over here..

wutske 26th July 2004 19:09

It only gives a problem when adding:
Quote:

Line 21, Col 65: Er wordt een puntkomma verwacht.
Feed Validator (should show the errors)

For the rest, this rules :super:

jmke 26th July 2004 19:17

the errors it shows are not valid, as said before, the "=" is needed for php :/

psychoduck 27th July 2004 20:28

then plz use another 'system' to create your feed, it would be realy nice if i could read it in my favorite newsreader (sage for firefox).

jmke 27th July 2004 20:29

what system? I need to LINK to vbb threads :)

weske 29th July 2004 17:09

@ the maker of the rss feed: it's not because the feed works on some readers that it is correct...
Try using entity's for the special characters in XML, like you re supposed to do if you don't automatically replace those special characters.

jmke 29th July 2004 17:52

I have no clue on how to do this, XML = not one of my areas:)

Sidney 29th July 2004 18:09

Proper use of coding is a must. I worked on it two years ago; now is fogotten.

Got the file in another system. Will go to the basement and check out the data and see if I could get it to read yours properly.;)

Bosw8er 29th July 2004 18:44

May as well upgrade the vBulletin version  ;)

jmke 29th July 2004 18:54

so no thanks :)

I'm new to XML 2. A simple solution is to put the data of your url tag inside
for example:You can't use in the link, but that's not gonna happen normally:D
Big problem here are actually the browsers who should be able to handle "& amp;" correctly in url's, as recommended by W3C for quite some time now...

jmke 29th July 2004 19:36

I'll try it out, thank you for the help :super:

jmke 29th July 2004 20:00

Yeah baby! working great: http://www.madshrimps.be/backend.php

the maniak 29th July 2004 20:21

Bosw8er 29th July 2004 22:03

jmke 22nd April 2006 11:47

Current netowrk problems between [M] and Feedburner had me revert to our old RSS feed url for the time being

http://forums.feedburner.com/viewtopic.php?t=3887

jmke 23rd April 2006 20:09

problems solved; back to Feedburner:)

RichBa5tard 10th May 2006 13:44

could you add the publishdate in your newsfeed please?

eg
http://feeds.feedburner.com/arstechnica/BAaf

RichBa5tard 10th May 2006 13:53

also, is there a madshrimps news specific rss feed too?

jmke 10th May 2006 14:09

Q1) will look into it, will have to a bit of unix timestap conversions to make it work (1147261999 = Wed, 10 May 2006 11:53:19 GMT)
Q2) no, it's mixed in the news with [M] tag - want me to make one?

RichBa5tard 10th May 2006 14:14

Yes, thank you. : )

I don't want every rssfeed to be published on the front page as a news item, but i do want to be able to mark some rssfeeds as 'trusted' which don't need to be 'digged' in order to appear on the front page, like a madshrimps article rssfeed.

jmke 10th May 2006 14:50

Q1) is done, will take some time to sync with feedburner though
