the real question of course is... why isn't Bosw8er 1st? and what is keeping up Stronken from taking his former 1st place?

If i remember right :
1x P3 1000 24/7
1x P4 2000 24/7
1x XP2500+ 24/7
1x P4 1.8 24/7

1x p3 500 3/7

That would be it, untill now.
Added Xp2400+ 24/7 this eve.
Would it make any difference if i add a dual p3 600+ or a dual p3 900 24/7 ? (both linux. Gotta find out how to do it).

At work i have some P4 2.66's standing around, doing nothing. if you would pass me again, i'm going to throw them in also :grin:

those duals P3 will crunch Folding units quite good, make sure to launch 2 sessions of folding just like with a P4 HT enabled CPU. If I remember correctly all the folding units are benchmarked on a P2-400 and the deadline is set according to that results. so anything faster than that will be able to return the results to the folding server in time and credited for it. I used a P3-500 from my cousin for a while and it pumped out finished WU's at a nice and steady pace. every bit helps

Perhaps they did before, I wouldn't know since I just joined this project, but I think they've changed that now:

Quote:
How do you set the deadlines for the work units?

Each work unit is benchmarked on a dedicated 2.8 GHz Pentium 4 machine with SSE2 disabled. Next, we apply this equation

timeout = 20 * (daysPerWU) + 2
deadline = max(30* (daysPerWU) + 2,10)

where daysPerWU is the number of days it took to complete the unit. The "+2" days is there to give an additional buffer for fast WUs (to allow for servers down, etc). If 30*daysPerWU is less than 10 days, we set the deadline to 10 days, as a minimum time for all projects. The timeout is the time at which the WU is resent to another client and the deadline is the last time which we will give stats credit for the WU.

Occasionally, deadlines may be set shorter or longer than the above calculation indicates, but the reason for having deadlines at all is that the sooner we get back work units, the sooner we can put the results to good use. The assignment server does take machine performance into account in making assignments, thereby allowing slower machines to receive more appropriate work units.

http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg...#stats.howdead

So anything will help really, you even receive appropriate WU's.
