Volt regulators are build to maintain their output voltage independent of the required output current. They will keep their output voltage but let through more current. A resistor in between will make current flow, but no voltage change. Lowering the resistance = more current, at some point you'll end up burning the resistor. Thing is that this point is actually quite close to zero Ohm, turning your pot will most likely cause you to short your volt lines, you know that's no good. Resistor will burn, if you turned to much, your PSU will burn.

Now, what I did was directly applying the 3,3V line to the load and thus bridging the VREG circuit. You do not do this with a VR because again, it's a matter of current and the high current will cause the VR to simply burn. It's is best that you completely disconnect the VREG circuit but I took my chances and nothing blew At 3.65V I saw no increase so that's that, had my fun, selling the setup with another TNT2 I had around.
