nope, none of them are booting, the Pentiums are no problem however. The nf7 board is being a pain in the ***... or maybe broken too I dunno, memory errors all over the place even at 133MHz. All was going good, from one boot to another, just hopeless. Going to t(/f)ry one of stock bios, lucky me I keep most of my files stored somewhere local, they're pretty hard to find these days :)

edit: if you want you may always pick up the K6 cpu and try it yourself. It's stock 500MHz, does(/did) 600MHz no problem.

I think I have a K6/2 that did 600+, but need to check if it's still alive

could it be that it the K6-II/500 I have, is in fact yours? Sorry MIA :(

Massman 11th June 2011 10:26

Ehr, possible I guess. I'll check the attic :p

geoffrey 11th June 2011 14:49

submitted 3700 score for K7, 6th spot, overall we're 3rd now :|

Non working motherboard with 30+ Durons = fail.
Who is willing to test these ?

AMD K6-2 somewhere, but can't seem to find it :(

geoffrey 11th June 2011 20:12

what do you mean with test? see if the cpu still works? you can try the current K7 board I have here but be quick I'll be building it inside a case somewhere next week.

@jerre
some tips: don't spend time overclocking the gpu, it won't do much certainly when using the K6 setup. No way to select a higher multiplier on that board? Can you get x5? I guess the best thing to do is focus on highest cpu clock, 2nd best thing is get a decent FSB frequency. If your bios doesn't allow for altering much memory settings maybe you can try wcpredit or something

regarding your K7 setup, I have the A7V8X-X which should be practically the some board as yours, but slower (Via chipset), does it also come with a 'extra volts' jumper near the cpu socket, at the top of the board? Maybe it is? I also have few unlocked cpu's, should work out quite well with your nf board, you won't reach first place but, who knows maybe close :)

i tweaked memory and cache settings: 8 marks more. @2.7Vcore i can post @504 mhz - 4.5x 112fsb - but winxp fails. I can also post 5x 100 fsb.No go fsb 124.

i can increase vcore, cpu remains cool with 2 fans.

I've read that the NF2 Chipset doesn't like unlocked CPU's. I have unlocked a Athlon +1800 but haven't tested it. It doesn't work: made all the bridges, only that works is the vcore-bridge. Multiplier crashes after only the slightest change (11.5x => 12x = no post.). FSB: from 133 to 141: unstable.

You can try some higher Vcore setting but I don't think it will change much. On K6 the chipset of the board can also have a measurable impact on system performance, Ali chipset is one of the most performant even without tweaking. Cache, you'r good with 1mb, many board only have 512mb. You're correct with the PCI/AGP lock, that's why most boards/setups have a problem running at over 112MHz, at 124MHz you'd probable risk data corruption but hey no problem if that is a benchmarking operating system. Only few boards have the 133/33 lock, not more than 5 boards, and from those who have such board the 133MHz option is non-bootable (as it is with me :p)

I don't know if they really dislike unlocked cpu's, haven't really heard of that, but what I do know is that most WR's are made with unlocked cpu's so I don't think they're really a pain in the *** for your mobo :) 10x220 gives you 2200MHz, yes try the unlocked maybe you'll get 2300~2500MHz out of it. If your board stops at 220MHz you don't really have other options unless you voltmod it :)
