gpu does nothing here, I too wonder how the first on K7 series managed to score more than 500 points (10%) over the second place with same clocks, only difference is the X1900GPU and Intel X25SSD.

On a sidenote, did you know about bios mod for your bord?
http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=352326
Gave it a try, don't panic I used one of my own BIOS chips so there is always a way of going back in case the Flash goes wrong The new BIOS is nothing too special though, not the extra cpu volts I was looking for... You can now set chipset voltage up to 1.9V but some people report it doesn't really do anything. I can confirm that, the chipset not clocking higher than ~225MHz has not much to do with chipset voltage. Furthermore you can now also set VDIMM up to 2.9V instead of 2.8V. O well, better than nothing right When I return your board I'll swap in the original bios chip again
isn't place 1 on the same mobo using custom bios?

I followed your advice concerning the 8400GS: 15 min @ 230°C did the job.
My wife asking me if it was normal that there were computer parts in the oven.
I gave her my -face.

To increase my scores i ctrl-alt-del and closed as much processes as possible. This made a difference.

I hope you did not forget the "papfles" this time
Yeah, I may hope so, virus scanner and all that stuff running in the background. Anyway, formatted the drive as the WinXP install was corrupt as hell

Hey, I notice the same, comparing with 2.4GHz vs 2.5GHz Barton cpu, in most tests he's only marginally better, in Multithreaded Test 3 he's over 50% faster in virus scanning and in grammar check it's 3000 vs 4400
Pretty neat tweak

EDIT: could it have something to do with:
Quote:
Q: After running the virus scanning test, is my system clean of viruses?
A: The virus scanning test only scans certain data files included with PCMark04. IT DOES NOT SCAN YOUR SYSTEM FOR VIRUSES! We highly recommend you to purchase a virus scanning software, e.g. from F-Secure, to ensure no viruses are harming your system.
Quote:
Grammar Checking is integer computation and primarily stresses the CPU. Link Grammar Parsing Library
version 4.2 is used. The input for this test is a 130 Kilobyte text document. The test is run continuously for 20
seconds. The result is in Kilobytes processed per second.
Note that in the default setup the Grammar Check test is run concurrently with the Virus Scanning test.

Just ran a quick 4335 score at only 2,3GHz

You can find the trick in the last link I've posted above, some called it a cheat back then.

nice btw, your K6-2 500 is dead. It gives nothing at 400 Mhz-settings.

I'll have to re-install XP and do a rerun using amongst others the CL2 memory. To bad for the 500 mhz CPU
