![]() | Yesterday, rumors of a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360 re-emerged after several months of silence. Supposedly, Microsoft had contracted Toshiba-Samsung Storage Technology to produce the drive and was planning a launch within the next few months. As TG Daily reports, however, Microsoft has now shot down those rumors yet again. In a podcast on the Major Nelson website, Microsoft's Larry Hryb and Aaron Greenberg—both members of the Xbox team—say Microsoft still has "no plans to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience." Greenberg points out specifically, "It's pretty clear [Blu-ray is] not the next DVD." As we pointed out yesterday, Blu-ray sales still represent a small slice of the overall home video pie—even now that HD DVD is out of the picture. http://techreport.com/discussions.x/15680
