Default Far Cry 2: New screenshots and hi-res video

The African savannah's vegetation is swaying in the wind until it is shot at or incinerated by the player. This new kind of interactivity is one of the main themes in the development of the Direct X 10 game. In Far Cry 2 fires spread according to the wind direction and don't stop for houses or careless players. But rain or a body of flowing water can keep them at bay.

The passing of day and night adds to the realism, although it has been accelerated to give the player a chance to notice it (a day in Far Cry 2 takes about four real hours). At night or during a thunderstorm it is a lot easier to sneak up on someone, because figures in the game aren't all-knowing but are limited in their actions by the environment.
