I've never found the needs in any Raid configs for home and home lan situation. There are better ways in backing up my data and OS.

used it for several years, until data got corrupted on the array, and the RAID 1 setup was completely useless as data corruption was present, of course, on both drives in the array.

I'm now using a simple incremental backup file copy from one disk to the other; in worse case scenario, I lose data from 12h old.
