![]() | Today we are going to review a cooler but we believe only hardware enthusiasts are interested with it; a motherboard chipset cooler. Coolink ChipChilla is a large 6mm heat pipe cooler with a quiet 60mm fan which is created to solve today high end but burning chipsets. Let us see what this cooler capability compares with original chipset cooler. http://hardwarebistro.com/index.php?...-Cooler-Review

![]() | Is it me or is thisproduct useless for anyone with a decent sized card? I could find info on their website confirming that it can be mounted sideways instead. Perhaps it and a large card can fit that way. |

![]() | Looking at the mounting it might be possible to turn it 90°, but even if possible it probably won't fit between 2 cards because it's almost as wide/wider as the average northbride (and a northbridge is almost as wide as the space 2 PCIe slots need + a single slot vgacooler). The way they installed it, it's almost impossible to install a videocard, the cooler is hanging over the lock, so your videocard should have the same length as the PCIe slot (which isn't logic because if you'd buy such a massive NB cooler, you have to be an enthousiast which means you have a kick-*** videocard). Crappy product, crappy review ... |

![]() | personally I think northbridge aftermarket heatsinks are passé, since almost all enthusiast boards are shipping with fancier heatsinks and sometimes even heat pipes, the need for this type of cooling in aftermarket has fallen; same will happen with 3rd party CPU coolers if Intel/AMD starting shipping stock HSF equivalent of Thermalright TRUE ![]()

![]() | I think there will always be an aftermarket for 3th party heatsinks, but it'll certainly shrink (and prices might even drop a lot to compete with the stock heatsink). Or it might rise, to create some sort of niche market for casemodders and hardcore aircoolingoverclocks. Maybe watercooling becomes the new aircooling ? Who knows, who knows ... damn, exams are not good for me ![]() |
