Zotac GeForce GTX 460 2GB Edition Tested

NVIDIA released the GF104-based GeForce GTX 460 graphics card on July 12. It gained lots of praises with great performance, heat control, power consumption, overclocking potential and reasonable pricing.

As we know, the GeForce GTX 460 comes available in two versions – 768MB/192bit and 1GB/256bit. To make itself stand out, the hard-core AIC Zotac has recently unveiled the 2GB GeForce GTX 460 graphics card.
In most gaming titles GTX 460 2GB just outperformed the 1GB version by 1.97% in average.

With a higher resolution of 2560×1600, the 2GB showed more significant advantage. It’s 2-7 frames faster than the other one in FarCry 2, Crysis Warhead and DiRT 2.

Similarly, GTX 460 2GB SLI only brought a performance improvement of 1.49%. However it outperformed GTX 460 1GB SLI by 29.59% and 14.23% with FarCry 2 and Crysis Warhead, respectively.

If you have enough money to afford a 2560x1600 display, you might as well spend the extra money for GTX 480;

if you are more budget minded and running at 1920x1200, the 2GB Geforce GTX 460 offers zero advantage; only worth buying if it's the same price as the 1Gb version (which won't be happening)
