Default Wozniak wades into Jobs movie

The bio-flick about Steve Jobs is so wrong that it has Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak completely confused.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Woz said that he was not even sure what the film is getting at and personalities were "very wrong".

Woz questioned the accuracy of a long-awaited film about Steve Jobs as the movie opened with a red carpet premiere, leading its makers to issue a statement that the flick is not a documentary.

Wozniak said the movie "jOBS" managed to stuff up the characters as well as the relationships between them. It especially misread the one between him and Jobs.

Jobs and Woz never had the interaction and roles depicted in the movie. The film was based on the idea that Jobs had an idea of computers affecting society, but that never came from him. The ideas inspired Woz and were widely spoken at the Homebrew Computer Club, which was the hobby group both belonged to.

Steve came back from Oregon and came to a club meeting and didn't start talking about this great social impact, said Wozniak.

His idea was to make a $20 PC board and sell it for $40 to help people at the club build the computer Woz gave away. Steve came from selling surplus parts at HalTed and saw a way to make a quick buck off Woz's designs, Wozniak said.

He said that, at the time, they were both kids - and Woz never looked like a professional.

The flick is directed by Joshua Michael Stern and features Two and a Half Men's Ashton Kutcher in the title role. It is supposed to tell the tale of a college dropout to one of the most "revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century". We can see where they went wrong there. They should have probably kept Apple fanboys away from the script.

As the film producers said, reality was not part of that thesis. In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, the producers said that the film is not a documentary, nor is it meant to be a blow-by-blow, word-for-word account of all conversations and events. In other words, they made most of it up when the facts did not fit.

However, the film makers claimed to have done extensive research in an effort to make an entertaining and accurate film that captures the essence and story of Steve Jobs and those that built Apple with him. But they acknowledged that "not every single thing in the film is a precise representation of what took place".

Wozniak did say that he had only seen a clip of the flick, and said that the movie should be very popular and entertaining.
