And those Win2k users didn't have DX upgrade issues. No Vista, no DX10, so no point in G80 either then since without Vista you can't use it for what it was designed for... ;) I prefer Vista simply because it makes changes that are more natural than XP's interface ever was. Forget the eye candy, I'm getting Vista because they built some missing common sense into the redesign that within moments speeds up the ease of use doing common tasks. XP users will be stuck with DX9.0c, as DX9.0L turned out to only be what Vista uses until DX10 is released in a later patch or SP. Alan Wake and Halo 2 are two games that will only play under Vista. Not to mention 8 games currently out right now or about to be released will be getting DX10 patches, or have extra eye candy for DX10 systems already built into the game. |

game wise, Alan Wake "might" be good; Halo 2... seriously... they need to release it at the same time as the xbox version; XBOX gets HALO 3 we get HALO 2?? bah, no thanks |
G80 is pretty awesome, but two x1950XTX's can still beat a GTX, and a single card is par with a GTS so it's not quite the end all be all card. It needed that 2ghz GDDR4 RAM for the insanely high resolutions it was designed to run at. I agree with ya about Halo, that whole thing is silly. But nonetheless there are 8 other games making use of extras via DX10 through patches or dual-support when they ship. http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10638 |
