Windows 7 RC vs Vista SP1 Gaming Performance

OK, can we draw any conclusions from the data? Well, other than the fact that the results are incredibly close, and there’s no real advantage to users of either ATI or NVIDIA GPUs, not really.

So, what’s the takeaway? It seems to me that there’s little difference between Vista SP1 and 7 RC when it comes to gaming. This is both good news and bad news. It’s good news in that gamers who shift to Windows 7 won’t suffer the disadvantages that those who made the leap to Vista when it was released suffered. It’s bad news though for those expecting to unlock more performance from their system.

Well think of it this way, windows seven is to vista, as xp is to win2k.

Atm theres not much difference, in about a years time it'll start to streak ahead, windows seven will probably end up being in place for the long haul :P

They don't even mention drivers or if the systems are 32/64bit in this comparison.

NVIDIA stated they will be releasing a different driver series for Windows 7 RC1 where the codebase differs from the older drivers. They are using the older March 3rd drivers here.
