Default Windows 7 now has 4% of the PC market

Last week, we told you that early Windows 7 retail sales had eclipsed early Vista sales by a staggering 234%. Do usage share numbers reflect that popularity? Yes, according to new Net Applications figures gathered by the folks at eWeek.

According to Net Applications' usage share data, which is based on 160 million visits to sites across the web each month, Windows 7 claimed a cool 4% of the operating system market between November 6 and 7. That may not sound like much, but remember Windows 7 only became available in stores and pre-built PCs on October 22, just two weeks before reaching that milestone.

Been using XP Home (Dutch) since the 7th of June 2001, when I bought my first computer. Switched to an English XP-Pro Corporate (don't ask), for purposes of help issues on a primariliy English-language website I modded on, in December 2004.
Had Vista for exactly 3 days, in November 2006. An RC release, only thing that worked, was Bitdefender. Couldn't even install Office 2007 because of compatability issues.
Been using Windows 7 from the Béta stages and installed the real-deal (English Ultimate edition) on last October the 2nd (again, don't ask). Besides a few grumbles because of small details (like no more 'one folder up' button and some-such) Windows 7 is a stable and satisfactory OS.
Have re-installed XP on a small HP 7600sff, just to watch TV through my Freecom DVB-T USB stick, as that doesn't work on Win7, with no forseeable driver coming out as Freecom won't support that particular stick no longer.

XP-Mode would solve that problem
