| Windows 10 feature extends battery life by 11 percent Per-app CPU throttling now available for beta testers On Tuesday, Microsoft unveiled a new operating system-wide power savings feature for Windows 10 that claims to reduce notebook battery consumption by around 11 percent on devices equipped with Skylake and Kaby Lake processors. The feature, temporarily named “Power Throttling,” makes use of Intel’s SpeedShift technology implemented in 6th and 7th-generation Core processors by prioritizing apps running in the foreground and giving them full access to the processor. The feature allows Windows 10 to place a notebook CPU in its most energy efficient operation mode, throttling individual apps from obtaining full access to the processor’s maximum frequencies. http://fudzilla.com/news/notebooks/4...-by-11-percent |
