Why play a plastic guitar when you can have a real one?

While kids can get instant gratification from grabbing a plastic Strat and fondly imagine they're really playing, they're missing out on the genuine enjoyment that learning to play a real instrument will bring them over the rest of their lives.

The trend toward instant gratification with no effort at all could well mean we run out of real musicians when old fogeys like Wyman and myself finally kick the bucket.

Wyman was speaking at the recording of a charity single at the Abbey Road studios in London and told the BBC: "It encourages kids not to learn, that's the trouble. It makes less and less people dedicated to really get down and learn an instrument."

Thats not true at all.. Ive put maybe 15 hours into playing the game with friends and play on Medium for every song and Hard for some of the easier ones, and Im a million times better than I could ever be with only 15 hours time on a real guitar.. That being said, you have to remember its only a game.. Its meant to be quick and relatively easy fun..

I bought this game just to see what the fuzz was about, what a disappointment , if you want get good in this game you'll have to spend quite a few hours; and in my humble opinion waste of time; in 15 hours YOU can learn quite a lot of stuff on a REAL guitar; at least you'll have something to show for

In the past I have at least 100hrs on the guitar.. At the time I picked up the plastic guitar I hadn't held a real one in over 10 years and the only thing I ever had to show for it was the main part of Smoke on the Water. But in over 100hrs, I was never as good as I am on the plastic guitar in 15hrs, where I can play almost every song on Medium at over 95% and a bunch of songs on hard over 90%.. Plus I only ever play with friends.. I have never started up the game while Im home alone..

what you mean is "you can press the colored buttons in the order they appear on the screen"
playing real guitar requires more skills, hence the higher learning curve, but the return in effort is worth it.
