Western Digital Releases 6TB External Hard Disk Drive
 

Western Digital on Thursday introduced its 6TB external storage system with two 3TB hard disk drives (HDDs) inside. The MyBook Studio Edition II is aimed at content creation professionals who need to back up large amounts of data.


The dual-drive solution supports internal RAID stripe and mirror modes and comes with FireWire 800/400, eSATA and USB 2.0 interfaces. As a result, despite of the fact that the novelty sports two 3TB drives with 5400rpm spindle speed, its performance should be higher compared to external drives with 7200rpm options.

If I'm spending $549.99 on a none-networked storage enclosure today, it should have USB 3.0 or LightPeak, not dated Firewire,USB2.0 or obsolete eSATA :(
