Icon17 Very slow opening Excel files? Speed Up Excel 2007 Opening Files from Network

I ran into a very irritating bug at work with Office 2007; using Office 2003 opening files from network or attached in email would be quite instantaneous, after the upgrade to Office 2007 however this behavior changed drastically. Excel 2007 would open but would just sit there, with a blank screen, not loading the .xls(x) file I wanted to see. After a few minutes the file would open and work could be resumed.

Luckily there's a solution for this problem and it's very easy!

Open Excel 2007, click the large Microsoft Office logo in the top left corner, click on "Excel Options"

Now navigate in the left column to Add-Ins, go the the bottom "Manage: Excel Add-Ins" and click the "Go..." button

In the new window select "Lookup Wizard" and click on OK.

If you installed Office 2007 with all extra's and all options you'll return back to the main window of Excel 2007 and you'll notice a huge speed increase
in case you were a bit more selective when installing Office 2007 it's possible you need to have the install media near you to install the "Lookup Wizard" Add-In.
