Default ULi Unveils World's 1st TGi Chipset

Taipei, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE) - April 13, 2005-- ULi Electronics Inc. (ULi) unveils M1695 north bridge- the latest low power and high performance HyperTransportTM PCI ExpressTM tunnel chipset for all the AthlonTM 64 based processors including Socket 754, 940 and 939 CPUs. ULi is at the forefront of delivering yet another world's first and high performance M1695 chipset solution which supports TGi :(Triple Graphics Interface) simultaneous PCI Express x16, AGP 8X, PCI graphics interfaces.

ULi's M1695 is designed to support extensive range of applications including the mainstream desktop and mobile PCs, high performance workstation, and high reliability servers.

M1695's innovative HyperTransport tunnel architecture integrates non-blocking symmetrical HyperTransportTM 2.0 links which enables motherboard manufacturers and system integrators to pair up M1695 with other high performance HyperTransport-based chipsets and bridge devices either natively or via the HTXTM connector. When coupled with ULi's M1567 south bridge, the combination offers motherboard manufacturers the unprecedented capability to support PCI Express x16, AGP 8X, PCI graphics cards simultaneously on the same mainboard. Such capability makes it possible to create a fully surrounding virtual reality environment using multiple high resolution displays driven by the three graphics tecnologies residing in the same computer system.

With both the upstream and the downstream HyperTransport links each running at 4 GT/sec and beyond, optimum performance are ensured between M1695 and the connecting CPU as well as with other HyperTransport devices.

M1695 features a bi-directional PCI Express x16 link (4 GBytes/sec peak bandwidth per direction) that is configurable as two x8 links to sustain the ever demanding 3D graphics requirement for high resolution. M1695 provides additional PCI Express links in either 2 x1 or 1 x4 (or x1 or x2) configuration to support high-speed I/O devices such as network controllers and storage controllers.

"M1695 offers an amazingly flexible and scalable array of interconnects that can effortlessly transport multimedia data across the HyperTransport and PCI Express interfaces." said Alex Kuo, President of ULi. "The versatility of M1695 enables system manufacturers to build powerful PC systems with ease and at reasonably low cost."

"As the market begins a widespread transition to PCI Express, we make sure that our customers will be able to enjoy a smooth upgrade path from their current AGP to PCI Express graphics cards." said Jerry Chou, General Manager of ASUStek Desktop Business Unit. "ULi's M1695 chipset not only enable us to build motherboards which embraces these attributes, but it also offer greater design flexibility which saves us time and effort."
