| Toshiba Begins to Ship 512GB Solid-State Drives Toshiba’s 512GB SSDs are based on 43nm NAND multi-level cell flash and are currently highest-capacity 2.5” solid-state drives. Toshiba now declares up to 230MB/s sequential read speed and up to 180MB/s sequential write speed for the new family of solid state drives, which is below originally declared performance figures, but which is still very high performance compared to competing devices. The new 512GB SSDs are now shipping inside Toshiba’s top-of-the-range dynabook SS RX2/WAJ. The dynabook SS RX2 is a mobile notebook PC created to the design concept of "true mobility". It is light (approximately 1095g), thin (19.5mm to 25.5mm) design integrates capabilities essential for mobile notebook PCs, including long-time battery operation (up to 12 hours) and a ruggedness that sailed through tests by an independent certification organization, according to Toshiba. http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/storage...te_Drives.html
