What the hell :D

Interesting, large heatpipes are "split" into multiple smaller heatpipes... wonder at the effectiveness of this approach? Does allows them to cram 20 heatpipes into the thing, I think most possible is 12 with standard approaches

cooling efficiency drops when fan is further away from the fins, lower pressure, less cooling
I don't think this will work out well

John, you are right about that; the CPU cooler shown by Kougar is also another abomination :D.

Take a look at Raven RV03 from Silverstone. Guess they want to redefine ugliness:

just reaffirms my earlier assessment that almost all of the case manufacturer known in the past to deliver "classy" designs are now focusing on "gamer" cases (lian-li, silverstone, coolermaster,...); RIP nice brushed alu cases

Stefan Mileschin 2nd June 2010 08:47

Damn gamer cases :(

Probably was intended for passive air cooling. ;) Even so, the split-heatpipes is something totally new that can be applied to any future cooler... so I wonder if it affects heatpipe performance.

That Silverstone reminds me of the new NZXT Phantom cases, which themselves remind me of the old alienhead motif again. Looks bad, and can tell already it will be a pain to regularly keep dust free.

The Cooler Master HAF-X looks solid though... been looking for a case with that feature set for a long time.

fins are too tightly packed for that in my humble opinion.

not really no, seen it before, in retail and after market modding

feature set is impressive indeed.
design not that much

Limited options on design when capable of accommodating boards like the UD9 and SR-2, and full length triple rads. But I can like the design... HAF 932 was silent but moved lots of air, so my expectations are high for the HAF-X.

"silent" is relative ;)
for HSF testing you can pretty much forget using dBA meter to get any useful readings for CPU coolers equipped with 120mm fan spinning <1500rpm; it takes 200rpm 120mm fan to make it audible over the case fans;)
