![]() | ![]() "Super" CPU Cooler Roundup, Tested on S1366 and S775 Tested by Chinese site Expreview; they tested both S1366 and S775 platform. S775 consists of Quad Core overclocked to 4Ghz. S1366 was a Core i7-920 running at 3.8Ghz; full system details: Do note that they tested S1366 inside a case! They tested with reference fans at different speeds, going from 800rpm up to 1500rpm; check out the remote site for the full details; we sampled the test data at 1500rpm to give you a teaser: On S1366 the difference between the best and worst CPU cooler is a mere ~12°C. The Prolimatech and Thermalright models all performed on the same level, followed by the Tuniq Tower Extreme and Thor's Hammer. The other coolers have more trouble keeping the overclocked Core i7 running cool. Remember, this is was with fastest fan setting! Let's see how they do on S775: Here the temperature overall are noticeably lower; the difference between top and bottom HSF is ~15°C, so a wider spread. The Prolimatech models and Thermalright HSF score very good again; the IFX-14 drops quite a few places here, scoring much worse compared to the results on S1366.
