Default A Stroll Down Memory Lane: Best 3dfx Glide Games

Having a specialized API could be arguably said was both the highlight and the downfall for 3dfx. The Glide API when used in conjunction with Voodoo hardware optimized the overall gaming experience and for the few short years that Glide reigned supreme, several games based its 3d implementation in this proprietary API.

If you are old enough, odds are you owned a 3dfx card and played some of these games. Let us take you a trip down memory lane and remember some of the best games ever that used Glide.

Default

they forgot the game that put 3DFX on the map.
GLQuake; it was originally intended for OpenGL graphics cards, but those were $2000+, then 3DFX came out with the Voodoo I which allowed for a limited (but enough) OpenGL instruction set , iD made their OpenGL Quake work with it, and the rest is history. The voodoo+quake combo is what made Quake II work and is what put voodoo cards in almost all gamer PCs, thereby opening the market.
before Voodoo creative labs and others had 3D acceleration cards of their own, but image quality wise they couldn't compare to GLQuake, there were also quake versions for the other 3D accelerations cards, but not comparable in sheer performace/IQ.
