Socket 754 DFI nForce 4 and Epox nForce 4 SLI Reviews Normally we are testing the latest high end Socket 939 motherboards, but today we have a look at a couple of Socket 754 boards based on the nForce 4 chipset series. First we have the nForce 4 SLI based Epox 8NPA SLI that brings dual graphics to Sempron. http://www.amdzone.com/modules.php?o...tid=205&page=1 Marrying the nForce 4 SLI to Socket 754 seems like a good move. You could save money by purchasing a low cost Paris core Sempron, and get 64 bit support, and save about 50 to 60 dollars from the cheapest Socket 939 CPU. That money can be put to a better video card, and the CPU can be overclocked. A 6800GS would seem like a great budget fit to spend that extra money on, and then a nice SLI upgrade down the road when they come down in price would take the cake. Thankfully Epox has kept a good overclocking BIOS with this board, and you also still get the diagnostic LED, and power and reset buttons. Then we have a budget board based on the plain nForce 4 chipset from DFI. The nF4X Infinity won’t be mistaken for the nForce 4 LanParty series. Also using Socket 754 it is one of the lower cost nForce 4 boards available. http://www.amdzone.com/modules.php?o...tid=206&page=1 Here we have another Socket 754 board powered by the nForce 4 chipset. This time around it is the first time we have tested this chipset with Socket 754. Certainly DFI is helping drop the price of the nForce 4 solution which is helped by being able to pair it with a low cost Sempron of which many are available at less than $100. With the nForce 4 you may not have the full feature set of the nForce 4 Ultra and SLI, but you still get almost all of the performance benefits at a good deal lower price. |
