| Seagate Desktop HDD 5TB review: first 5TB hard drive @ Hardware.Info The Seagate Desktop HDD 5TB is not only the conventional hard drive with the biggest capacity, it is also the fastest one based on our tests. Only SSHDs, which feature a built-in SSD cache, are faster in specific scenarios, as is demonstrated by the PCMark benchmarks. Drives of this capacity will generally primarily be used as data disks for storing photos, videos, and movies, and not as a boot drive which contains various programs. While the SSHD technology does not really offer any advantages for storing large files, the excellent read and write speeds of the Desktop HDD 5TB do. In other words, this drive is both with regards to its capacity and to its performance the ideal data storage drive. If you're looking for a disk to use as a boot drive, you're better off with an SSHD or better yet, a small SSD combined with an HDD for storage. http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/5322...5tb-hard-drive |
