Default Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 2 GB Vapor-X Review

Today Sapphire becomes the first GPU manufacturer to attach 2 GB of DDR5 to a Radeon 4870 making it one of the most impressive models available in terms of paper specifications. They haven’t stopped there however as the card also features their own PCB design and a cooler based on the Vapor-X technology which we have seen on a few of their previous cards.

We are lucky enough to have one of these new cards on our test bench and have run it through a number of real world tests to show exactly how consumers benefit from the increased memory and new cooler.

beside the small advantage in GT4 where the extra memory space allows you 100% view range (compared to 31%, going by the included demo video, not much difference); the extra 1Gb on this HD 4870 doesn't really seem to do much good. More marketing wazzaa ?
