Samsung Spinpoint HD160 (sata2) The Samsung SpinPoint HD160JJ is an extraordinary hard drive and retails for just under $120USD (at time of press), making it competitively marketed with a very high price to performance ratio. Its relatively large capacity, near silent operation and advanced technologies such as NCQ and staggered spin up support are sure to entice computer enthusiasts of all ages. http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/...60jj/index.htm |
would the performance be as good if it was connected on a 1.5G SataII port? |
the HDD scores well in certain benches due to NCQ and higher bandwidth of SATA2; so the buffered results are really blown out of proportion. random read/write speed is what I'm looking for, for high performance, and there you see that the drive does not do much (if any) better then the other drives. if they'd included a Raptor you will see that drive pulling ahead in the random write/read tests because of the 10.000rpm and lower access times. |
well, if i'm not mistaken, the DFI lanparty NF-4 has 1.5G SataII right? so basically, the difference between this hdd and other s-ata ones wouldn't really be noticeable? |
other drives don't have NCQ.. SATA controller must support it also, but it does not have to be SATA2. Asus board used in review has SATA2-300 If I would buy a motherboard for my A64 system it would be Asus A8N Premium; |
just found out it does support 300: http://www.madshrimps.be/forums/show...threadid=13562 |
depends on the version:) |
