Samsung intros new solid state drives
The SSDs will come in three flavours: 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. These sparsely populated PCB units are fast on sequential reads, but relatively slow on the writes. Read numbers are 90MB/s throughout, but as the chip density goes up, so does the write performance Ė 25MB/s, 45MB/s and 70MB/s respectively. Not the most impressive of specs, but of course they are using MLC Flash memory: cheaper and with lower write performance than SLC Flash.
