 |  Russian hackers attack major UK sectors GCHQ is on the case The chief executive of Britain's GCHQ cyber security centre said today that its spooks are aware of attempts to disrupt the UK's energy, telecomms and media by attempted hacks. Ciaran Martin said that the UK is being threatened by crooks and by spooks that are taking aim at major infrastructure segments. Martin said that it was certain that Russian hacking attempts were an attempt to “undermine the international system”.
