Default Rubio seeks to strip Huawei of US patent rights

All your 5G tech can be stolen by American companies

US Senator Marco Rubio filed legislation that would prevent Huawei from seeking damages in US patent courts – effectively allowing US companies to steal what ever tech they want from the company.

The move would enable US companies to steal Huawei’s 5G technology and prevent the company filing patent complaints about American outfits.

It is all about the move that Huawei made against Verizon Communications to insist that it pay $1 billion to license the rights to patented technology.

Under the amendment companies on certain US government watch lists, which would include Huawei, would not be allowed to seek relief under US law with respect to US patents, including bringing legal action over patent infringement.

On June 12, a person briefed on the matter said Huawei had told Verizon that it should pay licensing fees for more than 230 of the Chinese telecoms equipment maker’s patents and in aggregate is seeking more than $1 billion.

The US tech press thinks it is all fair. Huawei should not have asserted its patents when only America companies invent anything and China just steals them. in the middle of a trade war.

Rubio, one of the Republican party’s leading foreign policy voices, filed the measure as an amendment to the annual National Defence Authorization Act, or NDAA, a massive bill setting policy for spending by the Department of Defence.

If the law is passed it will mean that all bets are off as far as China recognising foreign patents.
