| Rambus gets bonus out of Playstation 3 IN A MOVE THAT WILL come as a surprise to absolutely no one, Rambus today announced that it is the memory genius behind the PS3. If anyone was still wondering, the new console will be the showcase product for XDR memory, the high bit rate per pin successor to RDRAM. One thing that I was not expecting is that Rambus also announced that the PS3 will use Rambus FlexIO interconnects. From the looks of it, most of the IO on the cell is Rambus related in one way or another. Exact frequencies and bandwidths were not specified however, but they will probably leak out in the very near future. µ http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=23307
