well my dad recently got himself a HTPC and looked into this matter and his conclusion was simple:

plasma = size
lcd = image quality

Plasma is dead IMO


LCDs are coming cheaper and cheaper due to the mass production and the technology is being pushed by the PC which has much higher requirements than the TV.

I also tought that plasma's could 'burn in' if something on the screen doesn't move for a while (tv logo by example)
