Parvus Supercharges USB Host Controller Parvus has introduced a new USB host controller that delivers a whopping 2A of current. Normally, a USB port provides just 500mA. This means that printers, scanners, or any other device that draws under 2A can be powered directly through the USB port without the need for bulky power bricks. The board supports hot insert and is compatible with Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE, Linux, QNX, and other real-time operating systems. When speaking with Parvus, their spokeman told us that controller is intended for use on an airplane, for example, or in a vehicle computer onboard a train, bus, or truck, or anywhere else that small, rugged embedded PCs might be used (elevators, ships, shape shuttle, kiosks, etc). http://www.everythingusb.com/news/index/5777.htm |
