This dramatic soliloquy summarizes the plot of Painkiller, a new Gothic/Horror/Fantasy first-person shooter from new-kid-on-the-block publisher People Can Fly. Painkiller brings back the intense, adrenalin pumping, palm-sweating single and multiplayer action in the best old-school tradition of DOOM and Quake. And in that tradition, everything is kept as simple as possible. No complicated keystroke commands. No sophisticated moves. No cluttered, information-overload Heads-Up Displays. No hair-trigger stealth action. No inventory system to manage, endless jumping puzzles or key hunts.
