sucky prescott, ,maybe I ought to keep my 3.0 as when it's cooled with a gt mach 2 it could reach 4.3-4.5 ghz

yep, that or buy an A64 setup now and enjoy high speed gaming until the end of year, when S939 setups won't cost an arm + leg and they will be more widely available by then.

Stay away from Prescott ...
Only reason I got it it was for heatsink test wtih CV. I'd say 400-500mhz behind Northwood.

Will Pentium M desktop go to market before S939??

yep, I'm staying with my 3.0D PIV for the moment, maybe like JMke stated, end of this year an upgrade.
only upgrade now : X800 XT.

got me a PIV3.0C and an IC7-max3 just to test that Prescott core as a 2e system.
new case,ram and 160SATA to go with it, was getting bored :)

the point in upgrading "later on" is to save money. Neither of the 2 people above me are saving money.. by default, so their questions on "when to upgrade" are void, as there is no point in asking.

If you have spare money to buy a prescott + P4 3.0C or a Mach II GT.. then you might as well swap that for the highest Athlon 51 FX setup and enjoy the fastest pc on the market NOW; and then swap your system at the end of the year with an even faster one, if you feel the need.

Instead of throwing away money at yesterday's tech, try to think forward lads. :)

At times, it is how wisely we spend. I frequently ask myself the skill level relative to the equipment I own. I like to see a factor of above 8, i.e. if my bike could reach 140 MPH do I have the skill and guts to bring to over 112 consistently without getting myself killed in the process.:klap:

I consistently take the Honda 800VFR to over 130MPH, the Magna to 120. My friend never takes his Viper over 100; the last time I took the wheel and hit 130 he was surprised; I said why the hell not, the Viper could reach 180 with ease.=-)

I feel below average because it this moment I could not use any of my systems to the fullest of what they could offer. :bash:

Back in time when I used a PII 450 to run DRP and BOM cranking over 100,000 SKU's taking over 30 minutes; I am sure any of my system today would have gotten the job done in 5 minutes or less.:grum:

Granded, we have different targets; bottom line - sense of security. Perhaps owning the fastest computer may provide the sense of security to some people.=)
