It's still guess work at best at the moment, with Conroe not seeing the day of light yet, AM2 is right around the corner though, so what CPU do you think will end up being the fastest out there by the end of the year?

Intel Conroe or AMD AM2?

Intel Conroe = New Technology

AMD AM2 = Upgrade K8

You can't expect miracles from a upgrade.

it's not about expecting miracles really; the K8 technology is not broken or in need of a major overhaul in order to remain fast and competitive.

I think AMD needs to make their CPU design optimized for DDR2/3 and not compatible. They are too dependent on low latencies.

Until K8L at least, I think Conroe.

I'd say Conroe when it comes out will own AMD, but AMD will come back and Intel will get Karl Mal0wn3d.

Compared to high end s939 DDR1, the AM2 platform is not going to give us any extra, so from the benchmarks scores I've seen so far it think its obvius to say that Conroe is taking back the crown for Intel. With some speedbumps AMD can maybe equal to conroe, but I don't see that happening before 65nm die shrink.
