OCZ PowerStream 470W Power Supply Unit

Without a doubt the OCZ PowerStream owned the competition. The Antec 550 True Control was tweaked to its maximum allowable adjustable settings and the OCZ PowerStream was tested at its default settings – we never adjusted the Fine Tune adjustments – we never had to! Even though the Antec was rated for 550 Watts, the OCZ PowerStream provided much better power levels even when under immense load.

This thing has been tested by so many with one conclusion - excellent voltage deliveries. I don't think I've seen anything like it in pOwEr SUpPly.:o

uhm Watts rating have little to do with the stability of voltage rails, unless your system requires more power then the PSU can deliver.

to find a system which needs more then 470Watt you will have to go a long way already. In my testing any rail which remains within 5% spec will not cause systems to crash due to "weak" PSU. in my testing with the Antec specifically if I turned the rails "all the way up" they are well over 3.3/5/12v can't see where the problem is then:)

the testbed:

AMD3400+ (2200 Mhz)
MSI K8 Neo FIS2R (VIA K8T800) Motherboard
1024 (2x512MB) Corsair XMS3200 XL Memory
Pioneer DVR-108 16x DL DVD-RW Drive
Liteon SOWH 832s 8X DL DVD-RW Drive
2 x 120 GB SATA Maxtor Hard Drives
Creative Labs Audigy 2 OEM
Gigabyte X800XT PE Video Card
Silverstone Temjin TJ-05 ATX Case

does not require 400Watts in my humble opinion, at idle the Antec's rails are lower then 3.3/5/12v.. wtf is up with that?

nothing against comparing HQ PSU's against each other, but these results are just weird...

certainly when comparing them to: http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...&articID=1 76 and http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...&articID=19 9

Often voltage drop due to higher consumption demand:

Wattage = voltage x Amperage

My believe is when CPU is being stressed wattage requirement increase; if the voltage regulation other than the AC/DC switching is "weak" will result to lower voltage output . Although, this could also be the fault of amperage relative to size/gauge of wire used at times. Another variable is operating temperature.

I don't totally agree with the above statement. The only way to find out is to use dummie loads for each rail to test max output; tweaking has nothing to do with input load.

My comment was based on OCZ has received consistent good reviews.:)

find me a bad Antec one ;)

I have an Aopen 300Watt PSU which has better rails then my Zalman 400Watt.. so it surely ain't about the max juice!
