Default NVIDIA's PhysX Tested with Upcoming Game Titles

When NVIDIA acquired AGEIA back in February of this year, I'm sure many of us wondered what the fate of the technology they promoted would be. Well, now we know, and it has to be said that NVIDIA has turned PhysX into a great marketing point for their GeForce series of graphics boards in a quicker time than any of us would have thought possible. Here we are, six months later, with a GPU-accelerated version of PhysX in our laps, and a handful of real-world game titles to use it on. It work, it works well, and kudos is due to the software engineers who worked on this translation via CUDA for their efforts. On top of that achievement, NVIDIA have made the most of this official launch of PhysX supporting drivers to demonstrate that they're working hard to get developers on-side and using this technology to its full potential. While none of the pre-release titles we've been privy to can be considered AAA releases, it's really just a warm-up act for bigger titles such as Empire: Total War and Mirror's Edge which should see the light of day later this year, although of course how heavily they'll use physics effects and just how much GPU acceleration will help those titles remains to be seen.
