Nvidia 780i is not a new chipset
 

It turns out that the "new" Nvidia 780i chipset might not be all that it's cracked up to be and it looks like Nvidia has once again "recycled" and old chipset by adding a PCI Express controller to the mix.

They sound so negative, it's not like NVIDIA's chipsets are that bad...

but they still get killed by Intel chipsets

And where do they "get killed" at, 680i is still a top performer, and still offers the best memory performance results includng 1T settings which P35 does not.

Adding a 3rd chip to their hot chipset is certainly going to ensure they keep the crown for power consumption though...

besides the power consumption which goes hand in hand with high temperatures, they simply aren't the overclockers choice because the P35 can be had for less than the 680i and clocks the same

650i is priced on par with P35, it offers great performance but overclocking is average... That's the only thing what 650i really lacks, and only a handfull manufacturers ever brought out a mainboard based on that chipset so you can't really say that it is that well tweaked. If they did the same for 650i then for 680i, I believe that things could have been different.

Well, it gets messy once ya look at other chipsets... 650i and P35 can both be found for <$100. Then there is "P31" which can be had for $75 or even less.

I do hope Nvidia has tweaked their chipset a bit in addition to just more PCIe lanes, but looking forward to seeing the results.

I almost passed out when I saw the NB cooler.

Got to be kidding me... doubt that will be a common choice in NB coolers! Not even any gap between the fins and the GPU that will use that top PCIe slot to let the air out.
