Soldiers: Heroes of World War II will go beyond the call of duty and offer an online multiplayer experience that includes a cooperative mode for up to four players. The game will allow four players to team up as a squad and take on any of the tactical action missions from the single-player campaign. Codemasters will also support the Soldiers community with additional free content and upgrades following the game's release. The first will be a downloadable upgrade incorporating a new multiplayer mode (Versus) along with GameSpy Arcade's matchmaking software. The upgrade will function only with an original copy of the Soldiers disc and will aim to safeguard the players' gaming environment against cheaters and hackers in Versus matches.
