From the development trends processor in 2010, we can see that the number of processor cor gradually increase and multi-core processors has been quite popular.However, In order to fully make most use of performance benefits of multi-core processors, software or games needs to support multi-core very well,So now are these games can support games enough well?

*note that X3 price is taken from the 2,8GHz variant

X3 gives a small boost over X2, step up to X4 is a lot smaller, no gain for hexacore (which is normal since it has 'just' been released).

if you're building a new machine, just go for quadcore, enough apps and games now support multicore somewhat decently (including Office 2010 for example);
if you have a 3ghz dual core, no need to upgrade right away:)

also SandyBridge dual core chips throw a wrench in this logic, as they are faster than older "real" quad cores:)
