if you're building a new machine, just go for quadcore, enough apps and games now support multicore somewhat decently (including Office 2010 for example); if you have a 3ghz dual core, no need to upgrade right away:) also SandyBridge dual core chips throw a wrench in this logic, as they are faster than older "real" quad cores:) |
