The MSI 925XE Neo Platinum 54G motherboard has adopted the new Intel® 925XE and ICH6R chipset, which supports LGA775 Pentium® 4 Prescott processor with FSB 1066MHz or 800MHz, Dual Channel DDR2 533 memory architecture, and PCI Express x16 graphics interface. The ICH6R chip supports PCI Express x1 expansion slots and 7.1 High Definition Audio, and also Intel® Matrix Storage Technology. The MSI engineering team created the MSI 925XE Neo Platinum 54G supporting Dual Channel DDR2 600, 667 and 710 with unlocked Intel processor. High flexibility of IDE devices was brought by the additional VIA RAID controller and two extra IDE interfaces. Configure your system with RAID 0, 1, 0+1 or JBOD.

Overclock your CPU FSB (Front Side Bus) with the lowest CPU Ratio with MSI’s latest feature “CPU Ratio Unlock” and exploit the margin of your CPU. Because the memory bus will be overclocked synchronously with the FSB, memory performance will be enhanced. With the function of “CPU Ratio Unlock” and qualified memory modules, you can overclock an ordinary FSB800 P4 processor to FSB1066.

The standard bandwidth of DDR2 533 memory architecture is 8.53GB/sec with Dual Channel technology. When we simultaneous raise CPU FSB from 800 to 1066 and DDR2 533 to DDR2 710, the memory bandwidth will be extended to 11.4GB/sec with Dual Channel technology. We can see obvious 33% improvement is achieved.

MSI unveiled the “CPU Ratio Unlock” function on CellMenu of the latest BIOS versions of high-end LGA775 platforms, including 915P Neo2 Platinum, 915G Neo2 Platinum and 925X Neo Platinum. After the CPU Ratio Unlock is enabled, the CPU Ratio could be set to 14X instead of the original settings. While the CPU Ratio is set to the lowest, the user has a higher margin to overclock the FSB and the memory frequency.

Almost all P4 Northwoods 800mhz are running close to if not over 1000 mhz when oc'ed, and do so with 1:1 memory/FSB ratio. No need for the 925 with marginal to no gain.:D

it will sell to those who are not into overclocking, which is still the majority of customers :)

I've read something similar a couple months ago. It's a limited setting, yet better than without.:)

An overclock with this board would go further than
an overclock with a 800mhz board.

It's bound to give you some advantage (especially AGP vs PCI-e)

PCI-e has shown no speed advantage over AGP as of yet

AGP stands at 8 speed,
PCI-e could go up to 16.

Plz correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Difference in performance between AGP 4X and AGP 8x = 1-2%
Difference AGP 8x and PCI-e 16x = 0.1%

so I stand by my "PCI-e has shown no speed advantage over AGP as of yet" ;)
