Default Microsoft talks about Windows Lite

A Modern OS for the Post Modern world

Software King of the World Microsoft has been talking about the need for something it calls Modern OS.

Writing in its bog, Microsoft’s Nick Parker said that a modern operating system is required for these new, modern PCs and innovative devices that the ecosystem will continue to build and bring to market.

He said that “Modern OS is a modern OS” which is interesting because the modern historical period extended from the late 15th century to the mid 20th century, so we suspect it will be the first coal powered operating system.

Anyway, the new operating system, after building up a head of steam, provides things like updates are invisibly done in the background; the update experience is deterministic, reliable, and instant with no interruptions.

It is secure by default because everything is separated from the operating system and compute separated from applications. This protects the user from malicious attacks throughout the device lifecycle.

The Modern OS is always connected and includes modern Wi-Fi and LTE 5G. “Users never have to worry about dead spots. All of a user’s devices are aware and connected. From the moment a user picks up their device, everything is ready to go, without having to worry about the next time the PC needs to be charged.”
