Default Microsoft sues Acacia tit for tat

Acacia Research, which bravely sued Microsoft for stealing its ideas, has found itself on the end of a tit for tat countersuit.

Microsoft CEO, Steve "sounds of silence" Ballmer ordered his legal eagles to search the Volish archives and come up with patents which Acacia might have broken.

According to Reuters, Microsoft now claims that Acacia broke a contract to license various smartphone and mobile computing technologies to Microsoft.

In 2010, Microsoft agreed to pay an Acacia subsidiary to license a portfolio of patents related to smartphones and tablets which were owned by Access.

In October, various Acacia subsidiaries filed lawsuits against Microsoft, charging that the software company had infringed more than a dozen patents.

David Howard, Microsoft's deputy general counsel, claimed that Acacia were involved in abusive litigation, attempting to extract payment based on litigation tactics and not the value of its patents.
