Default Microsoft Office comes to iOS

Software giant Microsoft has pulled Office for iOS tablets out of its preview state, and made it a full service for Apple fanboys who need proper software.

The suite of Office apps was free to download and use on iOS late last year. While Android users also got a functionally complete version, both were labelled with the "preview" tag as Microsoft tested it on a variety of hardware. Redmond has announced that it's removed the aforementioned preview tag from the Office apps.

These latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint allow users to log in using their Microsoft account and create, edit, and print files for free.

You can get some more premium features by signing up for an Office 365 subscription.

Microsoft said that it will be adding support for Intel chipsets "within a quarter.”

However this latest iOS version of Office may not be around for long. Redmond has announced that Office 2016 for desktop would be coming later in the year. This will see a universal app for smartphones and small tablets packaged with Windows 10.
