The Phenom processor, in conjunction with the 790FX™ chipset and Radeon™ HD 3800 series GPUs bring the total platform experience to gamers and enthusiasts. Even the venerated 690G chipset gets a boost with quad-core processing available as well in our Dash Friends and Family PC.”
About the Spider platform
AMD’s Spider platform is an enthusiast-class group of technologies that include next generation, quad-core Phenom processors, 790FX chipset, and Radeon HD 3800 series graphics. Combined, they bring the total platform experience to a new level with the introduction of such technologies as native quad-core, HyperTransport 3.0, and CrossFireX – a four GPU 3D technology for XHD gaming. Also available is the AMD Overdrive application – the most advanced platform control and overclocking software available on the market.
“The amount of control we have over the Spider platform is tremendous,” says Santos, “we can control at a very low level many performance characteristics of the hardware, and are able to squeeze every ounce of performance out of the components. Combined with our Redline™ overclocking methodologies, the Overdrive application is a clear winner.”
Configurations featuring the Phenom processor are immediately available starting around $1,000 with the Dash Friends and Family PC, and around $2,000 with the EPHEX luxury gaming PC.
