| Living in the Past - 486 is good enough One of the major reasons he managed to “put up” with a 486 was because he was kept out of the loop, not having particularly computer literate friends (yours truly excepted) or even having the Internet. He didn’t know about anything new and faster – ignorance was bliss. After all, I’m sure many of you can remember trying a 486 for the first time and thinking how fast it was compared to your lowly 286. It’s all relative after all.
