| Large Capacity Low-Latency Modules Not Possible After we interviewed OCZ Technology late last week, we asked readers to send in questions that they would like to ask OCZ. Eric H. asked, "The main thing I would like to see is large capacity, low-latency modules. For instance, 8GB at 2-2-2-5 would be just about right for some of the Photoshop work I do (question edited for clarification)." We discussed this question with OCZ and they agreed with the solution, but unfortunately due to industry limitations neither OCZ nor other memory makers are in a position to come up with the aforementioned product. OCZ said it’s ready to offer special edition, large capacity low-latency modules to its customers, but considering that DDR2 is starting to take off rapidly due to price cuts, increased speeds, "low-latencies" and AMD’s announcement to move to DDR2, IC makers such as Samsung aren’t interested in supporting DDR to an extent of exclusivity. Simply put, IC makers have no interest in working with DDR anymore. As always with the industry, that could change in the future. OCZ suggested that market readiness and user adoption isn’t the issue, as OCZ is known to introduce exclusive memory products for select motherboards, but it’s dependant on IC makers to release chips that can support such a solution. Although there may be slight manufacturing problems with a product of this sort, OCZ is confident in working out minor issues and producing products that enthusiasts demand. Note: Once again, if you have specific questions that you would like to ask OCZ or other memory makers, we suggest you send them along our way; we’ll do our best to get them answered for you. http://www.cooltechzone.com/index.ph...k=view&id=1739
